|Maida Vale Farm is a Saskatchewan organic farm producing certified organic beef. As of this writing (fall 2005), only the calves are certified organic. But in due time, all the cattle will be certified. Customers should know, however, that certified or not, all the cattle at Maida Vale Farm are raised under the same organic standards of sustainability and husbandry.
The cattle (usually about 55 in total) are raised out on pasture in the summertime. During the colder months, they spend most of their time on a smaller section of cultivated land with access to bedding. Grass and hay compose the basis of their diet.
Beef is available for purchase and pick-up direct from the farm. Just give a call to make sure meat is available. Generally, meat is sold in packages that are composed of 1/3 roasts, 1/3 steak, and 1/3 hamburger. The price is fixed per pound and the absolute minimum order is 30lbs. Beef is not sold by individual packet.
Aside from beef, the farm also produces certified organic wheat, barley, oats, flax, Richlea (medium green) lentils, and peas.
