Meadowsweet Farm
About Meadowsweet Farm
A Community-owned Dairy project You can now own your own source of raw milk, butter, cream, yogurt, kefir and cheese. As a member of Meadowsweet Dairy, LLC you will be a co-owner of the herd of Jersey cows and therefore have a right to any and all of their milk products in any form you choose. The LLC members will be able to have their raw milk delivered to Ithaca and to have their milk processed into butter, yogurt, buttermilk etc. We at Meadowsweet Yogurt have transferred our herd of cows to a newly formed Limited Liability Company in order to allow LLC members access to any and all raw milk dairy products of the herd. We will no longer sell dairy products to the public, but rather will be herd managers for the LLC. This is our attempt to move a dairy farm toward community supported agriculture. We are very excited to be involved in providing better access to grass-fed, organic, raw milk and raw milk products and are looking forward to community involvement in cow farming. As a member there are several ways to get your dairy products. You can visit our farm anytime and pickup your food. You can choose to pick it up at the Ithaca farmers’ Market on Saturdays, or you can pick it up on Wednesdays at Stick ‘n’ Stone farm on Rte 96 just north of Ithaca. There is a $50.00 membership fee for a lifetime membership in Meadowsweet Dairy, LLC. Then on a quarterly basis members will make a contribution to the care of the herd (Jan 1; April 1; July 1; and Oct 1). Your LLC dividends or share of the profits will take the form of raw milk products and your share of the profits will be in proportion to your investment in the herd. The current estimate of the investment needed to support the herd for the following products is : Milk (full or low fat) $4.50/gallon Yogurt and buttermilk $3.00/quart Butter $10.00/lb (A contribution of $1.50/gallon will provide for milk to be delivered in 1/2 gal glass milk bottles to the Farmer’s Market or to Stick ‘n’ Stone Farm.)
