About Morning Fog Farm

Morning Fog Farm is a diversified family farm in the town of Berne, Albany County, NY, run by Susan Walter & Mark Hoffmann. They follow organic and sustainable growing practices, and have taken the Farmer's Pledge with the Northeast Organic Farmer's Association of NY (NOFA-NY).

Morning Fog began raising all-natural beef in 2004, and also offers a wide variety of certified organic vegetables, as well as honey, herbs, and free-range eggs. Mark and Susan are committed to preserving farmland as an important community resource and to feeding local families. By employing the efforts of other local farmers in the Switzkill Valley -- their neighbors -- they'd like to help preserve farming as a way of life in the Valley for as many farmers as possible.

Their calves are raised by their mothers on plentiful mixed pasture and woods, and then overwintered on local feed produced in the valley. When the animals are ready for processing, they are taken to a USDA approved, family owned processing facility. The beef, which will be ready by early April, is available in a variety of cuts.

They sell primarily at the farm and at the Indian Ladder Farmer's Market (in season - generally July to October), plus special sale days at this and other local markets, such as the Hilltown Market at the Octagonal Barn in Knox.
