About The Bear Cafe

The Bear Cafe was established in 1971 by Albert Grossman, a music industry icon and personal manager to such artists as Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul & Mary. Following its former 'heyday' and changes in ownership, The Bear Cafe reopened in 1988 under the partnership of Peter Cantine and Chef Eric Mann. Since then, Peter and Eric have brought on their friend, Andy Cooper, as a partner and purchased the pristine, creek-side real estate on which The Bear Cafe sits. Complementing its lovely, natural setting, The Bear Cafe maintains a healthy and impressive list of accolades for its new-American cuisine. Gourmet Magazine taps it as 'one of the best restaurants in the region,' while The New York Times describes it as a place where 'the powerful and famous nosh.' The restaurant also distinguishes itself by its commitment to what Chef Mann refers to as the 'best' foods available, fresh, all-natural meat and produce from small, regional farms. The menu does change with the seasons, but customers can expect a solid offering of all-natural meats year-round. Lamb and pork are available on occasion.
