About Bridging The Gap

Bridging The Gap (BTG) works to make the Kansas City region sustainable by “connecting environment, economy and community”, and the premier organization in the area providing environmental education and volunteer action through more than 1,000 volunteers annually. BTG’s program array, one of the most diverse in the U.S., includes Heartland Tree Alliance, which planted more than 4,000 trees in greater Kansas City last year; Kansas City WildLands, restoring 14 local urban prairies; Keep Kansas City Beautiful, the local chapter of Keep America Beautiful, focused on litter abatement and sustainable beautification; the Green Business Network, educating more than 400 businesspeople a year on “green” practices since 1999; and the Kansas City, MO drop-off recycling centers, managed by BTG . Bridging The Gap is the 2009 winner of the EPA’s national Clean Air Excellence Award for education for our educational campaign, Five Green Things, and is listed in the U.S. Department of Energy’s best practices for its water conservation efforts in low-income Kansas City neighborhoods.
