About Whistlin' Hollow Farm
Whistlin' Hollow Farm is nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, with picturesque high pastures, a creek, and fertile bottomlands. Owners Kate Mahanes and Jim Fleming raise AWA sheep that thrive on the grassy hillsides. They also maintain local fields for grazing and hay. Kate and Jim’s farming adventure began, quite humbly, by bringing home two orphan lambs to raise. It has now expanded to more than 70 lambs a year, with plans to continue growing. Kate and Jim raise Katahdin hair sheep, a breed known for its mild tasting meat and easy, low-maintenance care, that naturally shed their winter coats. Kate says the farm is a dynamic system of livestock and local resources: “Our goal is to provide high-quality, chemical-free food and healthy livestock for our community.” For more information about purchasing Whistlin’ Hollow Farm’s AWA lamb, visit http://www.whistlinhollowfarm.com/ or call Kate and Jim at (540) 456-8212.Near This Listing
