Zatar is a family-owned restaurant located in the theater district of downtown Berkeley, near the UC Berkeley campus, serving eclectic Mediterranean cuisine. We use only naturally-raised meats, organic milk and eggs for our house-made yogurt and pastries; and hand-selected, organic fruits, herbs and vegetables - many harvested daily from our own organic garden. We compost all raw kitchen scraps for our organic garden and vegetarian leftovers are fed to our laying hens. We use rich organic olive-oils, fresh herbs, organic goat and sheep's milk cheeses, and the only meats we serve (lamb and chicken) are always organic. We support sustainable agriculture and every effort is put forth in our restaurant to provide high-quality food in a home-like atmosphere.
