About Charlestown Cooperative Farm

Charlestown Cooperative Farm is a CSA, a Community Supported Agricultural farm. The Andersen Family established the farm in 2001 on 40 acres purchased from the Fisher Family in an effort to preserve the beautiful site in scenic Charlestown Township, provide the community with fresh local produce, and encourage the establishment of a network of sustainable farms in the Phoenixville area.

Charlestown Cooperative Farm offers a complete variety of vegetables, flowers, and herbs to its members from June through November. Bourbon Red heritage turkeys are available to members during Thanksgiving. As a member you would pick up vegetables once a week at the farm from June through November. It's about 22-24 weeks, depending on the late or early frost in the fall. In the barn there is a blackboard that lists all the pickups for that day and the U-pick items as well.

The share usually includes about 12-16 different items in quantities for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children). The U-pick items may have some limits but are available for you to pick that day or any other time during the week and half days on Saturdays. U-pick items include beans, peas, flowers, herbs, cherry tomatoes, paste tomatoes, soybeans, hot peppers, strawberries and raspberries as they come in season. Wonderfully fresh vegetables are hand-picked at the peak of ripeness, affording the best taste and highest nutritional content.

As an added benefit, members may pick herbs, beans, peas, cherry and paste tomatoes, and fresh flowers during the week, as they are available. If you're not a member of the CSA program, you can still purchase Charlestown Cooperative Farm products at The Phoenixville Farmers' Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, from May 13th through November 18th.
