About Lewis Waite Farm

Alan & Nancy Brown have been gardening according to the organic philosophy, and raising animals since they were children growing up in Connecticut. Their beef business began in 1967 on a small scale and has grown since then. They have sold live animals to consumers and livestock auctions, breeding and raising a small number of pigs each year. They recently committed to selling their finished vacuum packaged beef and pork directly to the consumer. Customers can pick up frozen cuts or larger orders right from the farm, or they can order online with shipping charges added. Outfitted with a walk-in freezer at the farm, they have the capacity to provide many families with their special healthy meats. Animals' diets consist exclusively of grass and hay, mixed with water and fresh air. In the winter, the young calves are fed hay in the barnyard. Some winters, in very cold weather, they are fed locally raised corn meal as an energy supplement to help them through their first winter. We have developed a CSA service over the years delivering to a number of CSA groups in and around New York City. Individual members of the various CSA groups we serve can order a variety of products from Lewis Waite Farm and our partnering farms through our website.
