The Strides raise emus for meat and oil on their farm in Tunbridge. The emu meat is completely non-medicated as the emu oil must be absolutely pure. Moreover, emu like to run, so they are raised in an environment that allows them to have shelter and run around outside however they please.

Emu meat has been described as being a tremendously healthy red meat as it is 95% fat-free, low in cholesterol, and very high in protein. Various studies have revealed the beneficial health effects of emu oil, which has been shown to sooth various skin and joint disorders and diseases, such as arthritis, psoriasis, and acne.

Emu meat should be available year-round, yet the best cuts are usually available for purchase in the fall, when the emus are processed. Oil is available year-round. Customers interested in purchasing meat should call ahead of time to arrange pick-up from the farm.

The Strides are also involved in a co-operative of 4 other emu producers called Vermont Prime Emu Producers, Inc. that sells emu oil online. Please note that only emu oil, not meat, can be purchased through the Vermont Prime Emu Producers' website.
