Rick Austin, owner of Heiden Valley Farm, raises chickens, turkeys, cattle, sheep and pigs naturally, all outdoors on clean pasture. While not a certified organic farm, the grains fed to the chickens, turkeys, and pigs are either certified organic, or at the very least transitional (raised to organic standards on soils that are not yet certifiable). The lamb and beef are 100% grass fed, with hay given to the animals in the wintertime. Rick has been selling the farm's pastured meat (available in individual cuts) and pastured eggs at the Rochester Public Market every Saturday, all year long. Rick's wife Deborah is also at the Fairport Farmers Market on Saturdays in the summer and early fall. Every Friday, Rick sends out an email detailing what products they will have for sale the next day at both markets. He will also hold items at the markets for customers who place orders ahead of time. Please email him in order to receive his weekly emails. Farm visits are welcome with advance notice.
