About Devotay

Devotay has been a community leader in local, sustainable cuisine since 1996. Through its network of "Devotay Local Farm Partners," many of whom are listed near the entrance in the "Hall of Farm," Devotay sources all its meat, all its dairy, and roughly 60% of everything else it buys from within 100 miles of its downtown Iowa City location. The owner is Chef Kurt Michael Friese, author of two books on sustainable food and publisher of Edible Iowa, the local food magazine. He also spent 6 years on the national board of directors of Slow Food USA, and has dedicated his life to the pursuit of a Good, Clean and Fair food system.
