Welcome to Chileno Valley ranch, home of the most content cows in the world. We raise our beef naturally, on grass (not corn), without antibiotics, hormones, or grain. Mike and Sally Gale run a highly diversified operation on their 600 acre parcel in Chileno Valley. The land has been in Sally's family since 1862 when her great-great grandfather purchased it from Abraham Lincoln's Chief of Staff, Henry Haleck.The Gales do much more than raise some of Marin's finest grass-fed beef however. They also have a half-acre orchard of heirloom apples and pears. Mike and Sally are interested in growing great tasting fruit, and so have chosen time-honored but little-known apple varieties like William's Pride, Mutsu and Zestar.
