David Little grows some of the best potatoes you have ever tasted. He dry farms them, which means he uses no supplemental irrigation at all so as the plants mature, their natural sugars become concentrated. He and his canine assistant, Dottie Mae, divide their time between 5 separate plots located in West Marin and southern Sonoma County. In addition to more than a dozen different kinds of potatoes, he grows onions, melons, sunflowers, corn and tomatoes. You can find David at the farmer's market in San Rafael and in San Francisco's Ferry Plaza Building where he often sells out of produce before the day's end.
