About The Living Room

The Living Room presents an entirely new concept of Long Island fine dining with a creative approach to cuisine. Fresh local products, organic foods and environmental thinking are central features of our New York Slow Food restaurant. Menus at many top-tier restaurants are conceived as ideal lists of the best, most desirable dishes, regardless of their ingredients' provenance or place in nature. At The Living Room, we start at the other end of the process. By identifying the freshest and most naturally produced foods, we create world-class menu selections from what can be purchased through local, organic producers. This is the slow food philosophy at work, and we believe it makes for the best-tasting meals in the Hamptons. Executive chef James Carpenter uses the slow food process to "cook with the seasons," coming up with mouth-watering menus of cuisines he calls "new American with a Scandinavian twist." Whenever we can, we prioritize the use of organic, locally sourced and seasonally appropriate ingredients. But as dedicated Swedes, there are some things that we simply can't do without - a Västerbotten pie just wouldn't taste the same using cheddar. No need to worry though, the Swedish products we import adhere to our good, clean & fair mantra. We use herbs fresh from the herb garden out back, fish from the waters around Long Island and meat from animals who get to play outside. And we get our bespoke Swedish loaves from the Blue Duck Bakery down the road.
