About Red House Farm

We're a small farm in a small rural town in the high desert of Southern Utah. The Aquarius Plateau is just above our town, Boulder, and provides the tributaries for the Escalante River. Boulder Creek is one of these and it runs right through the farm. The area is quite beautiful. Red House Farm is committed to using organic methods and closing the loop on inputs. We have one acre in vegetable crops, one and a half in test grain plots and two and a half in alfalfa/pasture grass. We also have 6 beehives and 50 laying hens and plan on introducing more animals in the near future. Last year was our first at the farm, but our tenth year of growing. We are very encouraged by what we and the soil produced. We are vendors at the local farmer's market and have begun a winter CSA. We also received a grant for a community tool-share program and a USDA grant for a solar/grid inter-tie system. We started the farm in anticipation of the decline of petroleum-based agriculture and everything else. We believe that communities will have to adapt in order to thrive in our changing world. Local/regional systems are the future. So we would like to do our bit to pave the way for a smooth transition.
