About Mount Kisco Child Care Center

Our year round garden to table nutrition program offers an exceptional approach to healthy eating and nutrition education. We call it Feed Me Fresh. With the help of a team of nutritionists, farmers and chefs, MKCCC has created a hands-on curriculum that builds a natural appreciation for fresh, whole food. feedmefresh2At the heart of the FMF program are the Center’s organic gardens – 1,000 sq. ft of raised beds. In the winter, with the help of Susan Rubin, our farmer educator, each age group plans their gardens and orders seeds. The gardens are planted and tended throughout the growing season by our children and their class-room teachers. Every week toddlers, preschoolers and school aged children prepare new recipes to share with their families. FMF cooking classes are based on fresh produce from these gardens and introduce the children to the tastes and textures of a variety of healthy homemade meals. We serve our children delicious meals and snacks prepared from scratch in our Feed Me Fresh Kitchen by Janet Morris and Marla Mendillo, our in house chefs. They use ingredients from our own gardens and local farms. We also host quarterly FMF family dinners and parent/community education on relevant nutrition topics. Dr. Susan Rubin, a health advocate and nutrition counselor recently spoke to parents on how to work with picky eaters.
