About Friendship Community Garden
The Friendship Community Garden is located across the street from the Friendship Recreation Center in Ward 3, on land owned by DC Department of Parks and Recreation. The garden is sort of a triangle-shaped lot as it wraps around residential yards and trees, consisting of 50 plots approximately 10′ x 15′, 15′ x 15′, and 15′ x 30′. Friendship Gardens boasts a community composting area (a system constructed of used wooden pallets) and home-made fencing of various styles constructed between the plots put up to deter the deer. Garden managers are elected every few years.
