Glendale boasts Mi Corazon, nestled in Kenneth Village near the Burbank border. The ambitious and arty cantina is the vision of Jeremy Swan, a star of TLC's "America's Worst Tattoos," and wife Vanessa Urzua Swan, who has perfected her recipes with her grandmother's home-cooking as its foundation. The Swans credit their friends' enthusiastic response to her salsa as the element that fired up their ambition to open a restaurant. However, Jeremy acknowledges that they were just as passionate about the idea of making Mexican dishes from hormone free, non-GMO meats and fish.

Their hand-cooked chips are the perfect accompaniment to their now-fabled salsa. However, be careful, as you will want to save room for meat, vegetarian and vegan entrees.
