About Illegal Foods

Illegal Foods gained a healthy reputation from their burgers and hand cut fries, comprised of our house-ground proprietary mix of beef cuts. A lot of the menu was pulled from the wide assortment of specials that you wouldn't expect to come out from a hole-in-the-wall kitchen inside an arcade bar. Some of the cuisines they experimented with were Asian, old Americana and French cuisines that Chef Steven Lingenfelter brainstormed over the last sixteen months as a pop-up. They will feature weekly specials that will highlight the best meats and seafood from the region, such as heritage breed pork from Gum Creek farms, grass-fed beef from Brasstown Farms, pasture-raised chicken, duck and quail from Grass Roots farm and regional seafood. Their goal is to re-introduce regional heirloom products that are being revived by local farms, like the Carolina gold rice and colonial field peas. They will only serve local and regional, naturally-grown produce that are in season. (That means no pink mealy tomatoes in December!)
