Broke Ass Pizza specializes in the creation of organic, non-gmo, locally-sourced pizza and pizza related products including gluten-free options for their non-wheat eaters. Produce, including fresh herbs, comes from local food initiatives located in Third Ward and Fifth Ward Houston, primarily Ecotone and Last Organic Outpost. Broke Ass Pizza features organic flour in all of their dough recipes and sauces are made with organic paste and sauce, organic onions and non-gmo garlic. Last Summer Broke Ass Pizza in conjunction with the MLK Jr. Center, trained over 25 young people in the art of pizza making in the Third Ward area known as "The Bottoms". Broke Ass Pizza is operated from a residential location and ran non-heirarchically as a worker-owned business.
