About Habana Outpost

The blend of peaceful coexistence between neighbors and celebrities, old school and new, is what inspired Sean Meenan to create Habana Outpost, New York's first solar powered restaurant and marketplace in 2005. Habana Outpost is a neighborhood joint where locals, families and trendy Brooklynites can sit side by side enjoying the same corn, tacos and margaritas that made Cafe Habana so beloved. That, and their continued efforts to convert their business into a fully sustainable and completely green practice. Though solar panels, manipulation of natural light, bio-degradeable flatware, cutlery and cups, composting practices, human powered blenders, recycled building materials and a courtyard garden that serves as a vital source of food for neighborhood animals and insects as well as an educational center for children to learn, touch, smell and experience nature amidst an urban landscape, Habana Outpost is doing their part to encourage and foster the green movement.
