alaMar Kitchen & Bar is the hottest addition to Uptown Oakland’s thriving restaurant scene. The New American seafood restaurant is a passion project of New York City transplant, Executive Chef Nelson German, who has worked at high end establishments such as Gramercy Park Hotel under the direction of internationally acclaimed Chef Yuji Wakiya. German's menu boasts signature dishes such as the peel ‘n’ eat shrimp drowned in mouth watering romesco sauce accompanied by fresh grilled Firebrand bread and the Braised Angus Oxtail derived from his mother's recipe. Within its first year, alaMar received the recognition of a 2015 Michelin Recommended Rating, bringing Nelson a step closer to his dream of becoming a Micheline Star Chef one day.
