Ethiopia’s remote topography protects its culture and cuisine from outside influences, keeping it rich in tradition and flavor. Unique spices, grains, and vegetables thrive in Ethiopia’s highlands, with plentiful rainfalls and varying climates. Special cooking methods and healthy combinations of ingredients produce an array of vegetarian, grain, and meat (although no pork) dishes. Keeping this traditional cuisine alive, Finfiné is located near the University of California at Berkeley, between Parker and Blake Streets, in “The Village” courtyard. Their core belief has always been, using organically grown local produce enhances the true taste of each of the dishes they serve in their restaurant. Finfiné will continue to evaluate the local farmers in order to select the ones who apply the strictest guidelines to produce such high quality produce. Finfiné recognizes that it is a great privilege to be part of this great movement to be able to re-introduce locally grown organic produce and their respective farmers/farms to customers.
